Royal Victoria Dock Square creates a new public space between a listed dock warehouse, historic cranes and the DLR station, forming a focal point within the wider Royal Docks.
The design brings the physical and industrial heritage of the docks into the public realm. A covered walkway, lawns, trees and integrated lighting weave the different elements together, preserving the prominence of the historic warehouse while allowing it to be experienced in new ways.
Robust materials respond to the character of the dockside setting, contrasted with planting and contemporary landscape elements to create a distinctive civic space and establish a framework for public realm across the wider neighbourhood.
