Thameside West is a landscape and public realm strategy for a major new mixed-use neighbourhood of 5,000 homes on the Thames at Silvertown, transforming one of East London’s last large former industrial sites.
Working alongside Foster + Partners and John McAslan + Partners, the landscape strategy uses the river as the organising structure for the masterplan, creating a sequence of distinct character areas and public spaces that connect the new neighbourhood with the Royal Docks and surrounding communities.
Dock Park and the new DLR Station Plaza anchor a wider network of streets, squares and riverside spaces, bringing nature, recreation and social activity into the heart of the neighbourhood. References to the site’s industrial heritage are embedded within the landscape through materials, public art and the character of individual spaces.
