London Dock transforms 6.2 hectares of previously inaccessible dockland into a new mixed-use, mixed-tenure neighbourhood, structured around a network of public spaces and the historic Pennington Street Warehouse.
A new grid of streets, pathways, squares and gardens opens the site to the surrounding neighbourhood and creates connections through to its heart. Residential buildings range from mansion blocks and terraces to towers, unified by masonry bases containing shops, restaurants, workspace, community facilities and other active uses.
Landscape and heritage give London Dock its distinctive identity. The historic warehouse and surviving dock infrastructure are integrated into the masterplan, while artwork developed with Gordon Young and Why Not Associates draws on the site’s maritime trading history and embeds its memory within the new public realm.
The timeless design of the architecture responds to its historic setting, while reflecting the contemporary approach that Patel Taylor bring to all of their developments. We have been impressed by Patel Taylor’s passion for design, not only in respect of the architecture, but also for the place as a whole.
