The London Dock landscape transforms the former docklands into a connected network of public squares, gardens, streets and routes, providing the organising framework for a new mixed-use neighbourhood in Wapping.
A new grid of public squares, semi-private water gardens and pathways opens up the previously enclosed site, drawing people into the heart of the development and connecting its buildings with the surrounding neighbourhood. The landscape responds to the maritime and industrial heritage of the docks, with the historic Pennington Street Warehouse and Tobacco Dock walls helping to structure new routes, spaces and character areas.
Garden Square combines naturalistic planting, grass mounds and winding paths with informal play, while Play Mews creates a more intimate pedestrian route alongside the historic Tobacco Dock wall. Across the masterplan, layered planting, water gardens and green spaces enhance biodiversity and sustainable drainage while creating a varied landscape for play, social life and everyday use.
