How we do it
Landscape is fundamental to the experience and performance of place, and is embedded in our design process from the outset. By working with natural systems, ecology, topography and climate, we create environments that improve biodiversity, resilience and wellbeing. Landscape connects people, buildings and nature, shaping distinctive places while generating lasting environmental, social and development value.
New city parks
We see new city parks as epicentre for regeneration: environmental infrastructure and civic places that can anchor regeneration, connect neighbourhoods and give development a shared identity. By combining recreation, ecology, water management and movement, parks become active destinations as well as resilient landscapes. Their quality attracts activity and investment, supports surrounding uses and creates enduring public value.
This project is clearly a park of its time and it is as much a three-dimensional architectural and planning composition as it is a piece of landscape.

Landscape as structure
We begin with a careful reading of topography, ecology, movement, heritage and viability. Landscape design then transforms site constraints into spatial and environmental assets, establishing routes, views and places for social life. Clear structure, robust materials and thoughtful planting create settings that are enjoyable from the outset and capable of maturing with value over time.
Eastside City Park is beautiful, striking and very simple, but there’s a complexity within it which makes it very interesting to walk through. It sits beautifully in its site and it does a lot for the buildings and area that it’s in.

Landscape led masterplans
We use landscape as the primary structure of our masterplans, shaping movement, ecology, public life and development value from the outset. Working with topography, water, habitats and local character, we establish a clear framework of parks, streets and gardens that guides built form, connects communities and creates resilient places where architecture and landscape mature together.
Genius loci - Spirit of the place
Our work is grounded in the particular character of each site. We study landform, water, history, vegetation and patterns of use to identify the qualities that should guide development. New routes and spaces are connected to the wider urban and natural fabric, creating places that feel specific, legible and rooted rather than imposed.
